About

Hello, there: I’m Jason Ward, a Glasgow-based freelance writer and journalist.

My work has appeared in publications including The Guardian, Little White Lies, Dazed, Curzon and Hot Rum Cow, and I have contributed to books including Movie Star Chronicles and 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. I am also the author of five puzzle books including Alice’s Puzzles: Through the Looking Glass, Puzzles from the Nether and Edgar Allan Poe’s Puzzles From the Grave, and the collection of comic flowcharts Should You Buy This Book?. From 2011 to 2019 I contributed to Oh Comely magazine as its  Associate Editor.

I graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production from the University of Westminster. It mostly taught me that Werner Herzog’s documentary The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner exists, and for that I am grateful.

This is me, leaning against a wall for the Japanese magazine Popeye. It's a long story.
